I have always thought that Jonathan Creek was kind of a Sherlocky series, but with a twist (since his reasoning is all about the illusions of magic). I know you’d done a rundown of sherlocky series on one of your podcasts. Anybody seen this one?

“Fed up with seeing him.”
BBC One has today confirmed initial details of the new Jonathan Creek special, to be broadcast at Easter 2013.

If you are unaware, Jonathan Creek is a curly haired man who solves mysteries in his spare time when he’s not living in a windmill or designing magic tricks.
British TV is incredible sometimes.
Jimmy Carr: Alan, what were you up to in the ’90s?
Alan Davies: I was a stand-up comedian.
Jimmy: That’s either taken earlier today or 20 years ago. There’s just no change at all.
Alan: That was 1996.
Jimmy: How are you dating that? Did you loose a tooth in ‘97?
Alan: I can tell by the coat.

I’m not sure how many of our none UK followers will have seen Jonathan Creek, but since I am a big fan I think it deserves a recommendation.
Jonathan Creek, from Wikipedia:
Jonathan Creek is a British mystery series produced by the BBC and written by David Renwick. Primarily a crime drama, the show is also peppered with broadly comic touches. It stars Alan Davies as the title character, who works as a creative consultant to a magician while also solving seemingly supernatural mysteries through his talent for logical deduction and knowledge of illusionism.
Consulting magician? Logical deduction? All sounds a bit familiar, doesn’t it! If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, mystery and seemingly impossible crimes, Jonathan Creek is a must see.
And yes, you read that correctly. Creek is played by the loveable Alan Davies.
