Make Reading Fic Easier on Yourself

areyoutryingtodeduceme:

fuckyeahmerlinfanfic:

I was browsing some fic here on tumblr, looking through everyone’s layouts, and thinking to myself, “I don’t know how anyone reads fic without Readability.” It occurred to me then that possibly many of you are reading without it because you don’t know it exists.

Readability is an add-on or bookmarklet for your browser. It’s a javascript that transforms the page you’re on into a customizable format that better suits your vision. It’s extremely useful in places like Tumblr and Livejournal where individual blog layouts can make text too small to see, or the clashing colors make it difficult to read. (Fanfiction.Net and Archive of Our Own have skins/settings for better reading built in already).

Here’s an example of what it does. Say this is what the fic looks like before:

I click on my Readability bookmark right there and it converts the page to become:

And say you’re not a fan of white on black and zoomed for a blind person, which are just my personal settings, all the options are in a column on the left for you to experiment with:

Be sure to give Readability a look and maybe you can save yourself some eyestrain and finally be able to read from sites you thought were lost to you.

Because I’m aware that reading fic on my layout is sort of terrible OTL
